Young Elementary School

Indian Prairie School District 204

One Book One School

January 2017

Dear Young Families:

The NYE PTA is excited to present our seventh One Book/One School event. In this program, our entire school community will read the same book simultaneously and participate in various activities along the way, including a visit with the author of the book. The program is designed to create a school-wide buzz about books.

The PTA will be providing every family with one copy of the book Pickle: The (Formerly) Anonymous Prank Club of Fountain Point Middle School by Kim Baker, as well as a bookmark. On the bookmark, your child(ren) can check off
chapters as they are read. This program will begin on Monday, January 23rd, and run for four weeks. The premise is that the reading will be done at home, as a family, to encourage everyone to read.

Summary of the book: Ben Diaz thinks starting the year with a prank is a good way to expand his circle of friends. Some ball-pit leftovers and an open window give him a great starting point. When he forms The League of Pickle
Makers, a secret prank club, his diverse co-conspirators help him learn the true meanings of friendship.
