BRIAN ZERFAS - Principal

As principal of Nancy Young Elementary, I’m proud to be part of a school community that lives its mission each day to “Inspire all students to achieve their greatest potential.” It is truly a community that not only strives for excellence but also fosters a deep sense of belonging for all students, staff, and families.
I joined the Indian Prairie School District 204 family in 2025. Prior to coming to Nancy Young, I spent five years in the Kaneland School District, two as an assistant principal at both McDole and John Shields Elementary Schools and three as principal of McDole Elementary. Before that, I spent ten years as a classroom teacher in Oswego School District 308.
At Young, we take great pride in fostering curiosity, joy, and a love of learning in every child. Our incredible staff brings passion, creativity, and compassion to everything they do, making Nancy Young a place where every student feels seen, supported, and empowered to succeed.
KELLY PEARN - SSC

My name is Kelly Pearn, and I am thrilled to be a part of the Nancy Young community as the Student Services Coordinator! I began my journey in District 204 in 2022 as a self-contained RISE teacher and transitioned into my current role in 2024. Before joining District 204, I taught in Oswego as a self-contained special education teacher and at Turning Pointe Autism Foundation, a therapeutic day school for students with autism.
I grew up in Naperville and am proud to have attended District 203 schools. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Illinois State University in 2019 and my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Special Education Administration from the University of Northern Colorado in 2024.
I believe in creating inclusive learning environments where all students feel valued, supported, and capable of success. My approach focuses on meeting the diverse needs of learners through collaboration, individualized supports, and a strong sense of belonging for every child.
